Team Riverside at the 28th Sendai International Half Marathon (2018 May 13)

Required Information

To apply to represent Riverside at the annual running of the Sendai International Half Marathon in May 2019, please submit this application through Google Docs to the Sendai Committee of the International Relations Council (IRC) of the City of Riverside. For further information, you may email them at: sendai.half.marathon@gmail.com

Race Information

  • The city of Sendai (Japan) hosts one male and one female runner from each of their nine sister-cities for their annual, highly-competitive international half marathon in May. Riverside and Sendai have been sister cities since 1957, the second-oldest such relationship in the world.
  • The race is normally held on the second Sunday of May so we anticipate the race to be May 12, 2019. The trip is usually 5-7 days including travel days.
  • The race website is sendaihalf.com, but the selection of Riverside’s runners is by the Sendai Committee of the International Relations Council of Riverside (ircriverside.com/home/services/sendai-japan).

Runner Eligibility

  • One male and one female runner will be selected to represent Riverside in this race.
  • Runners must have amateur status and be at least 18 years old (as of trip departure).
  • Runners must live, work, or train in Riverside and be a good ambassador of the city.
  • Qualifying times: Half marathon in 1:40 (men) and 1:50 (women) as of January 1, 2018.

Expectations of Runners

  • To participate in orientation meetings prior to departure.
  • To abide by the decisions of the coach (head of delegation) at all times.
